Information

Situated on 850 acres of land near Sparta, KY, midway between Louisville and Cincinnati, Ohio, Kentucky Speedway has hosted ARCA, IndyCar and NASCAR racing since its opening in 2000 and staged its first NASCAR Sprint Cup race, won by Kyle Busch, in July, 2011.

Kentucky Speedway is a 1.5 mile, tri-oval design, featuring a 1,600 foot long backstretch and four turns banked at 14 degrees. The racing surface is a uniform 57 feet wide throughout and includes a 12 foot apron; the track also includes a paved, quarter-mile oval which utilizes a portion of the pit lane and tri-oval.

Originally constructed by a group headed by Jerry Carroll, the facility was sold to Speedway Motorsports Inc. in 2008. Speedway Motorsports subsequently expanded the track’s seating capacity from 66,000 to 107,000, reconfigured the pit lane to include the quarter-mile oval and acquired an additional 200 acres of property to be utilized for camping on race weekends.
